We aimed to improve the charcuterie board experience by preventing spills and making cleaning effortless, inspired by HAY’s refined design language.
identifying core struggles
Users frequently experienced food spilling from the flat, uncontained surface, making the serving experience messy and inconvenient. Over time, maintenance also became a major issue. Because the materials were sensitive to moisture, they tended to absorb water, leading to cracking, warping, and bacterial buildup in hard-to-clean areas.

We built mockups to test the groove’s size and depth, checking how well it prevented food from moving or spilling. We also ran a simple cleaning test to see if the surface could be easily maintained without trapping residue.
